Resolution on work placements in companies undergoing labour force adjustment processes

FULL TITLE: RESOLUTION OF THE RECTOR OF 2 MARCH 2021 ESTABLISHING MEASURES FOR WORK PLACEMENTS IN COMPANIES UNDERGOING LABOUR FORCE ADJUSTMENT PROCESSES

On 4 June 2020, a Resolution of the Rector was issued for the purposes of authorising the resumption of work placements in an on-site (face-to-face) mode. Said Resolution establishes that: "New work placements, whether on-site or remote, will only be authorised as long as the companies are not involved in labour force adjustment processes (either a furlough plan known as an ERTE or layoff plan known as an ERE in Spain), except if these only affect a specific part of the company that is unrelated to the placement. Companies will be required to make a declaration of responsibility stating that they are not involved in an ERTE or ERE and, where appropriate, must guarantee the effective supervision of the student in accordance with the training project”, with a view to facilitating the completion of the curricular work placement.

The complex situation resulting from the current pandemic makes it difficult for students to carry out curricular work placements, which are established as academic activities as part of the Curriculum and which, consequently, must be taken. In order to facilitate the carrying out of these placements,

I HEREBY establish the following measures:

One. Authorisation is granted to conduct curricular work placements, in on-site or remote modes, in companies that may be involved in labour force adjustment processes (ERTE/ERE).

Two. On-site and remote extracurricular work placements will still not be authorised in companies undergoing labour force adjustment processes (ERTE/ERE), except if these only affect a specific part of the company that is unrelated to the placement, and companies will be required to make a declaration of responsibility stating that they are not involved in an ERTE/ERE and will guarantee, where appropriate, the effective supervision of the student in accordance with the training project.

Three. This Resolution will enter into force on 2 March 2021.
