User Services Guide during the validity of the state of alarm for the management of the health crisis situation caused by COVID-19
Following the public announcements made by the President of the Spanish Government and the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, and in light of the national state of alert declared by the Spanish Government, the Rector of the University of Granada has held an emergency virtual meeting with the UGR’s Monitoring and Coordinating Committee responsible for tracking the COVID-19 epidemic. As part of the effort to maximise the containment of outbreaks, it has been decided that all face-to-face, on-site activities of the University of Granada—both academic and administrative services—will be suspended with immediate effect, while public Higher Education services will continue to be guaranteed in alternative formats.
In light of the Government’s declaration of a state of alert in Spain, and in anticipation of further details on the specific measures that are to be adopted nationally as a result, the University of Granada—via the Commission set up for this purpose—will continue to closely monitor the situation. It will also work to establish all the procedures and mechanisms necessary to deliver its academic and administrative services and to carry out the required measures to combat the global threat posed by the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19.
Having met this morning, the Monitoring and Coordinating Committee responsible for tracking the current epidemiological situation wishes to underline the fact that only the Health Authorities pertaining to each Autonomous Community hold the necessary legal powers to implement restrictions on the normal functioning of academic and administrative public services.
Therefore, until such time as the relevant Autonomous Government authorities put alternative measures in place, teaching and administrative activities will continue as normal at the University of Granada. Teaching activities encompass official degree and post-graduate programmes and UGR-specific diplomas).
As a result of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in our Autonomous Community, the Andalusian universities, in line with the directives of the Autonomous Government of Andalusia, hereby communicate the suspension of all on-site teaching activities (both theoretical and practical) with effect from Monday, 16 March, until 30 March. On that date, the situation will be reviewed.
This morning the UGR’s Monitoring and Steering Committee for the epidemiological situation caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) met to analyse the information available to date.
